Our history
The house
I bought this house in 1994, located near Angoulême, from the daughter of a Colonel! The Colonel, a prominent figure in the village, never quite recovered from this sale! He wished this heritage had stayed within the family!
At that time, this house was part of a vineyard with barns, cellars, a distillery, and vats…
In 2009, I finally decided to open my house by turning it into guest rooms.
I began the renovation work in June 2008, focusing on the main house: each room received its own bathroom. And we were approved as a ‘Gîtes de France 3 épis‘ (3 ears of corn) in March 2009. Then it was the turn of the swimming pool, built by a craftsman and filled with water by the end of June 2009.
Over the years, we’ve added rooms, improved outdoor spaces, and now I’m pleased to offer the house for self-management.
You’re at home for a week or more, to enjoy the pleasures with family or friends.
I hope you’ll appreciate and fully respect these surroundings.
Isabelle Metayer, pastry chef
As a pastry chef by profession, I’ve always enjoyed sharing my knowledge. After traveling extensively, especially on cruise ships, I returned to my native region, Charente.
The house I bought a few years earlier welcomed me with open arms, and turning it into guest rooms quickly became the obvious choice to fill this large house.
At the same time, to fill in the quieter periods, I made macarons that my guests appreciated greatly. Before I knew it, macarons were in competition with the guest rooms, and a choice had to be made between the two!
Now here I am, with three fulfilling activities: the vacation rentals (weekly stays), pastry courses, and macarons!
